Processes

While Green Cleaning product selection is important, the procedures for Green Cleaning are equally important, and perhaps more so.  In general, Green Cleaning procedures are similar to traditional cleaning procedures.  The differences are more a matter of focus than one of technique.

The first step in developing the Green Cleaning plan is to have a communication strategy with regard to cleaning personnel, the building management, and the building occupants.  This includes communication regarding the cleaning products and procedures being used in the building, and the identification of any building occupants with special needs or sensitivities (dust, chemicals, noise levels, etc.) and a process in place to work with management, cleaning staff, and occupants to mitigate the problem.

Training requirements are also a crucial element of the Green Cleaning process.  All cleaning personnel are to be trained in the proper handling of chemicals, proper use and maintenance of equipment, and the cleaning procedures for each area they will responsible for.  Upon hiring, all cleaning personnel will be thoroughly trained in these topics.  Site specific training will also take place depending on the building to which they are assigned.  Records of all training will be maintained on each employee and shared with the facility management.
